Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.
Hillwoods Academy in collaboration with ‘SPIC MACAY’ organized a Dance recital by Mrs. Monica Nayak, a renowned Kathak exponent. The school hosted the lecture cum dance demonstration under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, the society for the Promotion Of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst youth. The programme began with lighting of the lamp seeking Lord’s blessings by the Head of the Institution, Spic Macay coordinators and honored artists.
Principal Madam welcomed the acclaimed dancer and her co-artists. Ms. Monica Nayak began her dance recital with ‘Shiv Stuti’. She explained nuances of Kathak dance form to the enthusiastic students. She said that synchronization of facial expression, postures and music brings out the beauty of the dance. Beautiful and poised dance movements and the footwork mesmerized the audience. Greatly inspired by her dance recital, the students had a volley of questions for her. They wanted to know how she felt before a performance and many more. She replied that every performance is a memorable performance as she needs to convert with the audience to have positive vibes and energy for dancing.
Ms. Usha Ravichandran, Spic Macay Coordinator profusely thanked Ms. Monica Nayak for an enthralling performance and urged the students to keep alive the rich cultural heritage of India as are the harbinger of India’s culture. She motivated them to take up an art form as it enhances one’s memory skills and concentration power. An ethereal and heavenly performance by Ms. Monica Nayak was immensely enjoyed by students and teachers from many schools of Delhi and the host school.
