Privileged are those who get an opportunity to visit the highest law making body in the country and actually see how Indian democracy works. A golden opportunity was given to Hillwoodians to attend the Lok Sabha session on 13 August, 2014.
After security checks, the students along with their teachers were made to sit in the public gallery. The splendour, aura and sanctity attached to the most powerful body in the country was indeed a great novel experience for all present in the gallery.
Deputy speaker, Mr. Thambidurai of AIDMC was elected in the previous hour in presence of Hon'ble PM. He ensured that every party gets a say in the session and decorum of the house is also maintained.
The ongoing debate between the representatives from Government and opposition parties was on "Increasing Communal Voilence". Speakers from both sides put forth facts and figures to substantiate their viewpoint.
Active participation by most of the members made the students realise the importance of debate and discussion in anoving at a decision.
The visit was gratifying and a novel experience which the learners will always cherish.
